C.S. Lewis: "The Weight of Glory"
"I am trying to rip open THE INCONSOLABLE SECRET in each one of you -- the secret which hurts so much that you take your revenge on it by calling it names like Nostalgia and Romanticism and Adolescence."

  • -- Unknown: "God does not require you to have a great faith. You simply need to have faith in a great God."

The Fragile Industries Manifesto

  • Hammers
Why the hammer logo? "Hammers" was my maternal grandmother's maiden name, and I like the matrilineal symbolism. My great-grandfather was a blacksmith, so there's that family history as well. I consider myself ready to undertake the Fragile Industry of rebuilding my life with that hammer. Rebuilding the Insconsolable Secret “that hurts so much that you take your revenge on it by calling it names like Nostalgia and Romanticism and Adolescence.” (C.S. Lewis.) In taking up this blog I raise the powerful tool of language, of exchanged ideas, of humor. I am readying other devices from my toolbox, rusty, disused. The hammer is an ironic symbol of freedom and new life, of encouragement to me. Take it up if you dare.

I love the last photo, the way he is sitting and looking. Yes he sure does look very regal indeed :)

Houston

Oh dear.

And the heart won't be denied. If they are flying to Florida, I'm tempted to say I'd pick him up and drive him to L.A. I think you two are fated, like Troilus and Cressida, Romeo and Juliet, Otello and Desdemona...uh oh, try not to see a pattern here.

I really, really need a orange tabby boyfriend kitty for my calico/crazy girl. We miss our D'Wayne--named for felons in Texas who seem to all have that middle name--he died--thrown clot. We still mourn and love, love, love him. Orange kitties/boys are sooooo special. If you hear of one--I need him.

The Bar didn't completely suck. Let's be cautiously optimistic and call it that.

If I do get Hermes, I'm breaking my rule to only get orange boy cats. (I had a brief yen for a Scottish Fold, but the price put me off.) They are the best. Peabody rules my heart. I don't know how they get on with one another or I'd have an entire flock of them. It's kitten season, check your local shelters. If they have no orange boys, leave your name and one will come along.

"Didn't completely suck"? High praise indeed for one of man's greatest inhumanities to man. I had to spend four days under an umbrella at the beach (I burn) sipping many tall, very strong margaritas and staring at the waves until I was even halfway human in '84. Ancient history. Now I'm a dedicated artistic wannabe. Suits me right down to the ground. Or the sand.

But you, you'll be great.
