C.S. Lewis: "The Weight of Glory"

  • -- Unknown: "God does not require you to have a great faith. You simply need to have faith in a great God."

The Fragile Industries Manifesto

  • Hammers
Why the hammer logo? "Hammers" was my maternal grandmother's maiden name, and I like the matrilineal symbolism. My great-grandfather was a blacksmith, so there's that family history as well. I consider myself ready to undertake the Fragile Industry of rebuilding my life with that hammer. Rebuilding the Insconsolable Secret “that hurts so much that you take your revenge on it by calling it names like Nostalgia and Romanticism and Adolescence.” (C.S. Lewis.) In taking up this blog I raise the powerful tool of language, of exchanged ideas, of humor. I am readying other devices from my toolbox, rusty, disused. The hammer is an ironic symbol of freedom and new life, of encouragement to me. Take it up if you dare.

Oh.I am so sorry. You did exactly the right thing, but it is the most difficult thing. He knew you loved him, he let you know you were/are loved. Everything you need from him will always be with you.

What a graceful woman you are. I am lucky you are my friend. I love you.

Thanks, Jaye. That's a wonderfully reassuring thought -- "everything you need from him will always be with you." True. (And I'm gonna steal that line when I need to express my sympathy to someone.)

I'm lucky you're my friend too. Is Texas too far away for a book club? I miss my book club.

jaye

No Texas isn't too far away for a book club. I haven't done that. I will need coaching.

Right after Mr. Peabody left this earth for kitty heaven, BobCat went missing. He has been AWOL for a week now. Talk about pushing my depression all out of shape. I am trying to accept he isn't coming home. I think someone found him while he was playing and took him inside their home. I have passed out flyers all over the neighborhood, but nothing yet.

Big sad.

Hope you are handling Mr. Peabody's absences. I am so sad for you.

How is our mutual friend?

fragileindustries

"Everything you need from Mr. BobCat will always be with you." Under the circumstances, that seems inadequate. Not knowing is so much harder. Big sympathies for your big sad.

I'm handling Pea's loss pretty well, all things considered. I'd been saying goodbye for the last year; I took a lot more time just consciously enjoying and appreciating him, so no regrets, I just miss him. My remaining cat Kitchen Weasel is testing her new domain over the house. She also has worked several daily arias into her routine. I can't say much for her vocal technique. She sounds like she's being strangled and tortured by demons. Nothing's wrong physically and she doesn't seem upset, so it must be a combination of calling for Peabody and the sheer pleasure of the song.

Our mutual friend is doing very well ... can I encourage you to contact him directly?

A truly nice story on your cat. I really felt like crying. I read a similar stories on teacup kittens.
